By J. van Laar, Margraten, Netherlands, 1978. 

Vigour
Vigorous, but weaker relative to standard Boskoop.  

Blossom
Early, ten days before Golden Delisious, triploid, self intolerant. Good pollinator necessary!

Productivity
Early with a good yield.  

Picking period
From the end of September till mid October.  

Shape / color
Boskoop Bielaar has an uniformly intensive red color (not striped). Typical Boskoop look a like. Fruits from this mutation have more color overlay then the Red Boskoop Schmitz Hübsch and can be little russeting. The Boskoop Bielaar is medium sized (75/85 mm). 

Flavour
The pulpe quite firm and sour with a good taste, very suitable to use for apple juice and apple-cake.

Shelf life 
Suitable for the early selling period as well as for long storage.
